SAA Men's Golf Report - Sept. 10, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – The Southern Athletic Associaiton names Andre Follmer of Trinity University and Sam McClure as the Week One Co-Athletes of the Week.

Co-Athletes of the Week:
Andre Follmer | Trinity | FR | Austin, TX – Follmer finished second to lead the 11th-ranked Trinity men's golf team at the Texas Tri-Match event held this week at the White Bluff Golf Resort. Follmer shot an even-par 72 in the first of two rounds on Monday, finishing with four birdies to remain even. Playing in his first collegiate tournament and his second round of the day, Follmer then added six more birdies to his afternoon to finish with a three-under 69 that wound up as the best round of the day in the entire field. The Tiger rookie started Tuesday's round with a bogey and a double on the first three holes, but he was still able to battle back and finish with another even-par 72 score to hold onto his second-place spot. Follmer accomplished this with an eagle on the par-5 sixth and finished with three birdies on his final six holes to close the tournament.

Sam McClure | Southwestern | JR | The Woodlands, TX – Junior Sam McClure opened the 2025 golf season at the Texas Tri-Match against RV University of Mary Hardin-Baylor & #11 Trinity University. McClure shot scores of 73 (+1), 70 (-2), 70 (-2) for a three-day total of 213 (-3) where he finished tied for second, helping the Pirates defeat Trinity University as a team by four strokes. Sam led the field in par 3's playing them at -4, he played the par 5's at -5 and ended the tournament with fourteen birdies.

 
Notable Performances:
  • Ryan Callaham | Oglethorpe | SO | Alpharetta, GA – Oglethorpe sophomore Ryan Callaham led the Stormy Petrel B team to a fourth-place finish at the SAA Fall Preview with a third-place individual finish. He stood atop the individual leaderboard after shooting 3 under par on the first day, then wrapped up the event with a 3 over par on day two. His even par finish was two strokes ahead of fourth, one stroke off runner-up and four strokes off individual medalist honors. 
  • William Cooper | Sewanee | SR | Charlotte, NC – Cooper shot two rounds of 73 at the SAA Preview, tying for fourth individually. He registered 20 pars with five birdies plus an eagle over the 36 holes on Sunday, finishing at two-over par for the event.
