INDIANAPOLIS – Trinity University proudly announces that three outstanding fall sports student-athletes have been selected as recipients of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Luke Chandler (Glasgow, Scotland / Balfron) from the men's soccer team, Ilsa Newland (St. Louis, Mo. / Kirkwood) from the women's soccer team, and Reagan Whatley (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) from the volleyball team each received the honor, which is believed to be the first time in school history that the Tigers have had three recipients in one sports season.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically while demonstrating leadership and a commitment to community service. Trinity's three honorees represent the university's continued tradition of excellence across all facets of the student-athlete experience.

As a senior defender and a cornerstone for the Tiger women's soccer team, Newland is a two-time All-Conference selection and the 2025 Southern Athletic Association Defensive Athlete of the Year. Newland earned Second Team All-American and First Team Scholar All-American honors from the United Soccer Coaches after anchoring a defense that allowed just 11 goals during the season.

Chandler, also a senior defender for the Trinity men's soccer team, played a key role in one of the most successful seasons in program history. A consistent leader on the back line, Chandler helped guide Trinity to an undefeated SAA conference season and a run to the NCAA Division III National Championship match, contributing both defensively and offensively throughout his career. He was a First Team All-Region and Scholar All-American for the United Soccer Coaches and was named to the All-SAA First Team as well.

Whatley is a senior outside hitter for Trinity volleyball who was picked as the 2025 SAA Offensive Athlete of the Year and an American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American. She led the Tigers to the SAA Regular Season Championship, and another deep NCAA Tournament run that ended in the Semifinals. Whatley was also Trinity volleyball's first College Sports Communicators Academic All-American®, highlighting her excellence in the classroom alongside her athletic achievements.

The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship will support each recipient as they pursue advanced degrees and continue their academic and professional journeys.
