No. 9 Tiger Women's Tennis Slides Into SAA Tournament Final

Memphis, TN - The 9th-ranked Trinity University Women's Tennis team delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over 57th-ranked Rhodes College in Saturday afternoon's SAA Semifinal at the Leftwich Tennis Center, sweeping the doubles point before clinching the match in swift fashion in singles play.

Trinity came out firing in doubles, making an immediate statement across all three courts. The #2 pairing of Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) and Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) were first off the courts, handling Nash and Rask with authority, 6-1, to give the Tigers an early edge. 20th-ranked Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) followed at #1, dispatching Higgins and Laakso 6-1 to clinch the doubles point and put Trinity 1-0 up heading into singles. Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) and Allison Vo (Houston, Texas / Memorial) completed the doubles sweep at #3, turning aside Ribeiro and Taub 6-2 to cap a dominant and clean 3-0 performance in doubles.

Singles was equally efficient. Tin was first off the courts at #3, delivering a crisp 6-1, 6-0 blanking of Higgins to push the lead to 2-0. Levy followed closely at #4, handling Rodriguez 6-1, 6-0 in an equally dominant showing to extend the advantage to 3-0. Schmidt then delivered the clinching blow at #5, dispatching Nash 6-0, 6-1 to seal the match for Trinity at 4-0 and bring the remaining courts to a stop.

At the time of clinch, Trinity held the upper hand on all remaining courts in play. Kovachev at #1 was well in command against Rask with a 6-2, 3-2 scoreline, 46th-ranked Andrade was cruising 6-0, 3-1 against Laakso at #2, and Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minnesota / Edina) at #6 had May on the back foot at 6-3, 0-2.
From the first ball to the last, the Tigers were relentless and never gave Rhodes a foothold. The doubles sweep set the tone, the singles clinch came quickly, and Trinity's depth and firepower proved far too much for the Lynx to handle throughout.
