Athletes of the Week
Offense:
Zara McCarthy | Centre | JR | Lexington, KY – Zara McCarthy had a goal and an assist in Centre's 4-2 loss to #1 WashU on Friday. While the Colonels lost, her goal and assist marked the first time this season any team had scored on WashU. The Bears had shut out their previous 8 opponents. Zara also scored a goal in Centre's 2-1 comeback win over Marietta on Sunday.

Defense:
Maggie Hartnett | Trinity | JR | San Antonio, TX – Hartnett led the Tiger women’s soccer team to back-to-back shutouts over the weekend, scoring a 1-0 road win over Texas Lutheran, followed by a 5-0 win against St. Thomas (TX). Hartnett and the Trinity defense allowed just five total shots in the two games with only three shots on target across 180 minutes of action. Trinity has recorded five shutouts in its first eight games this season and remains undefeated at 8-0-0.

Notable Performances
Offense
  • Laina Engelbart | Berry | SO | Parkland, FL – Engelbart was Berry's best offensive player in three games against Huntingdon, TCNJ, and Montclair State this past week. She had an assist in a 5-1 win over Huntingdon, and tallied both a goal and an assist in the team's Sunday match with the No. 23 Red Hawks. Overall, her totals were one goal, two assists, four points, and eight shots. 

Defense
  • Ide Strickland | Berry | JR | Roswell, GA – Strickland anchored the Viking defense this past week against Huntingdon, TCNJ, and Montclair State. Because of her defense, the team held the Hawks to just five shots in a 5-1 win, and she defended the best offensive options against the No. 14 TCNJ and No. 23 Red Hawks. She even scored Berry's second goal of their matchup with Montclair State on Sunday.
  • Kaylee Mills | Maryville | FR | Fort Thomas, KY – Kaylee Mills helped lead Maryville College to an unbeaten week, playing all 180 minutes in a 2-0 shutout at Spalding and a 1-1 draw at Piedmont. The defender anchored a Scots back line that allowed just one goal across the two matches while limiting opponents to nine shots on goal combined. Mills also contributed offensively with assists against both teams as Maryville extended its unbeaten streak to four matches.
  • Montse Hernandez-Soto | Southwestern | FR | Round Rock, TX – Hernandez-Soto helped anchor the defense to two Pirate wins and has played a massive part in the Pirates starting 5-2-2. The Pirate defense surrendered only one goal against two solid teams in Texas Lutheran and St. Thomas. Hernandez-Soto also scored the game-winning goal against St. Thomas on Friday on a set piece. The freshman is fearless on the back line, holding TLU scoreless who entered 6-2.
