Atlanta, Ga. – With three weeks of the SAA season in the books, Trinity and Sewanee have emerged as the early leaders, both sitting perfect in conference play.
Sixth-ranked Trinity won the game of the weekend, going on the road to beat previously unbeaten Berry 46-37. The Tigers trailed early in the fourth quarter but rallied with 12 unanswered points to secure the win. Sewanee won a thriller over Hendrix 20-19 to stay unbeaten while Rhodes and Millsaps also came out on top Saturday afternoon.

OFFENSIVE:
Tucker Horn | Trinity | Fifth-year | Graham, Texas – Led the sixth-ranked Tigers to a huge, comeback win against previously unbeaten Berry to keep Trinity on top of the SAA. The fifth-year senior tied his career-high with 363 yards through the air, completing 25-of-33 passes with four touchdowns. His play helped the Tigers erase a 16-point deficit, punctuated with a game-sealing 25-yard touchdown with 6:41 left.
DEFENSIVE:
Quinn Johnson | Sewanee | Fifth-year | Dothan, Ala. – Posted eight tackles with 5.5 sacks, keeping Hendrix high-powered offense to 23 points its season average in a 20-19 Tigers victory. The fifth-year had a strip-sack in the second quarter that was returned for a touchdown. He tallied two sacks in the fourth-quarter and blocked the potential game-winning extra-point on special teams.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Tyler Huettel | Trinity | Senior | McKinney, Texas - Had a perfect day kicking, hitting 3-of-3 field goals and 5-of-5 extra points for 14 critical points in a comeback win over Berry. After making two short field goals in the first half, he unleashed a 52-yard field goal in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 37-37. That 52-yarder tied the all-time record for the longest field goal in Trinity football history, dating back to 1900.
Notable Performances:
- Kanyn Utley (Hendrix) – totaled 96-yards on eight catches with a pair of touchdowns.
- Connor Ladner (Millsaps) – caught both touchdowns and totaled 56-yards, leading the Majors to a 14-8 win at Birmingham-Southern.
- Evan Reeder (Rhodes) – Completed 20-of-28 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns against Southwestern. Also racked up 50 yards on 12 carries.
- Michael McGhee (Sewanee) – Rushed 19 times for a team-high 109 yards, helping Sewanee rack up almost 33 minutes in time of possession.
- Ty Armstrong (Birmingham-Southern) – Led the Panthers with nine total tackles, five, solo, to go along with a TFL and pass break-up.
- Nehemiah Coalson (Millsaps) – Tallied six tackles, five solo, and an interception with 6:54 remaining in a one-score game.
- Jason Kusibab (Rhodes) – Totaled seven tackles and had a sack in the Lynx 31-7 homecoming win over Southwestern.
- Caleb Harmel (Trinity) – Led the Tigers with nine tackles, including two for loss. Anchored the Trinity defense that held Berry to eight second-half points and allowed the Tigers to come back and win against the previously unbeaten Vikings.
- Ethan Klapatch (Millsaps) – Posted a strong Satruday, helping propel the Majors to a 14-8, SAA road win at Birmingham-Southern. Klapatch recorded 10 punts for 459 yards (45.9 yard average), with a long of 50 yards and two inside the 20-yard line.
- Jack Satterfield (Sewanee) - Made 2-of-3 field goals, hitting from 29 and 46 yards, the latter with 9:00 left in the game that proved to be the winning points. He also punted six times with two of those downed inside the 20 and a long of 49-yards.
