2025 SAA Women's Soccer All-Conference Awards Announced

CANTON, Ga. - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced the 2025 Women's Soccer All-Conference teams and major award winners ahead of the tournament.

Regular season champion Trinity swept all the major awards in their first year with the conference with Alex Doran and Ilsa Newland capturing Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Year, respectively and Lila Brackin earning Rookie of the Year honors. Rhodes College led by head coach McKinnon Pennell was named the 2025 Coaching Staff of the Year.

All-SAA voting and selection of the All-Sportsmanship team was conducted among the conference's eight head coaches. 
 

Offensive Athlete of the Year – Alex Doran | Trinity | SR | Boerne, TX

Doran made a significant impact in helping Trinity secure its first regular season title. With 11 goals and 4 assists, she ranks second in the conference in goals despite playing two fewer matches than the league leader. She recorded five game-winning goals across 16 appearances and earned four Athlete of the Week honors this season.

Defensive Athlete of the Year – Ilsa Newland | Trinity | SR | St. Louis, MO

Newland has been dominant all season, earning three Defensive Athlete of the Week honors. The senior started all 16 matches and added five goals while anchoring a defensive unit that propelled the Tigers to a conference championship and a top-25 national ranking.

Rookie of the Year – Lila Brackin | Trinity | FR | Dallas, TX

Brackin made an immediate impact in her first season with the Tigers. The freshman forward tallied five assists and two goals across 14 matches, contributing meaningfully to a nationally ranked team that finished undefeated in conference play and captured the regular season championship.

Coaching Staff of the Year – Rhodes College

Led by head coach McKinnon Pennell, the Lynx posted an impressive 11–3–2 record, including a 4–2–1 mark in conference play, to secure the No. 2 seed in the SAA Tournament. Rhodes also earned a spot in the national top-25 rankings for part of the season.
