CANTON, Ga. – Through the first two weeks of the season, SAA baseball teams boast a combined record of 18-6 against nonconference competition. Millsaps is 4-0 to start the year after a three-game sweep of Edgewood. Hendrix took two from Westminster and Sewanee did the same against Capital to give the conference three unbeatens. Rhodes ran its winning streak to four and sits at 5-1 on the season.

Blake Pou | Sewanee | Senior | Houston, Texas - batted .462 (6-for-13) with two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBIs and five runs scored in three games over the weekend against Capital. The senior posted a two-run homer in the first game versus the Comets and singled, walked and scored a run in the second game of Friday's doubleheader. In Saturday's single game Pou was 4-for-5 with a double, three home runs, eight RBIs and three runs scored. He belted two and three-run homers in a 10-run fifth inning for Sewanee and ended the game in the seventh with another two-run blast.
Pitcher:
Nick Tarantino | Millsaps | Senior | Covington, La. - had a stellar week against MUW and Edgewood College, helping the Majors to a 4-0 week and start to the season. Tarantino struck out nine batters, did not surrender a walk and only allowed one run and three hits in 6.0 IP against Edgewood on Friday. He also tossed one flawless inning with two strikeouts against MUW on Tuesday.
Notable Performances:
- Harrison Cowdrey (Centre) - picked up the win for Centre baseball in the Colonels' season opener. The reigning SAA Tournament MVP pitched five innings of shutout ball with seven strikeouts and induced a pair of double plays as Centre knocked off Wooster 2-1.
- Mick Arney (Rhodes) - picked up his 1st win of the season as the Lynx beat Augustana 6-3. Arney came in the game in the 4th inning with runners on 1st and 3rd trailing 3-1. He retired the batter in the 4th to get out of the jam and then threw the next 5 innings, allowing 2 hits and 0 runs, striking out two.
- Matt Munn (Sewanee) - struck out 10 in four innings of work in the season opener Friday against Capital. The senior righthander struggled through the first two innings before settling down and getting through four frames, allowing one run on two hits. He walked four and struck out 10, retiring six of the last seven batters he faced.
- Riley Uhs (Berry) - In the D3 South Region Invitational hosted by LaGrange College, Uhls had a day in game two against Pfeiffer. He went 6-7 at the plate with 7 RBIs, and 4 doubles (a new Berry record). Uhls also went 2-4 against No. 20 Adrian in game one.
- Ben Prather (Centre) - picked up where he left off as he hit .625 across Centre's season opening doubleheader. Prather went 5-8 at the plate with a walk and a double and drove in what proved to be the winning run for the Colonels in the first contest of the season as Centre beat Wooster 2-1.
- Ben Burkhart (Rhodes) – hit. 6.25 (5-8) with five RBI over two games. He went 2-3 with a double against Webster to start the week. The senior then went off against Augustana, going 3-5 with two RBI behind the power of two homers. With the Lynx trailing in the seventh, he delivered a three-run home run that propelled Rhodes to a win.
