SAA Men’s Tennis Report – March 4, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – SAA men’s tennis teams enjoyed a busy end of February and start to March. Berry played both Emory and Covenant on the same day and Sewanee hosted the ITA Indoor Nationals in Memphis, playing three top-ranked teams. Rhodes has won its last four in a row and boasts the best dual match record in the league at 5-2.

Athletes of the Week:
SINGLES
Agustin Kalinowski | Hendrix | Senior | Córdoba, Argentina  - had a thriller at number one singles on Friday night against Letourneau University. Kalinowski lost the first set to Junior Zach Farris 5-7 in the tiebreaker, before catching his rhythm and winning the second set 6-3. The action packed third set breaker saw Kalinowski taking the win 10-8 and clinching the match for the Warriors. 
 
DOUBLES:
Jake Chapman | Berry | Junior | Panama City, Fla.
Aiden Benoualid | Berry | Junior | Henderson, Nev.
Playing a tough schedule against two Division III foes, Chapman and Benoualid won both matches. The duo won their match at No. 2 against sixth-ranked Emory, 6-4 to start their weekend. They then posted a 7-5 from the No. 2 flight against Covenant later that same day.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Noah Koch (Berry) - playing in the one spot defeated Covenants Ben Onufrock 7-5 in the third to clinch the team victory and and had a close loss against Emory's one at 6-4 in the third.
  • Carson Chassaignac (Millsaps) -  was stellar in helping the Majors best Blue Mountain Christain on Saturday and battle hard against nationally ranked Jones College on Sunday. He won 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 hosting Blue Mountain and battled back 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 with his Jones opponent, both on Court 2.
  • Talman Ramsey (Sewanee) - played an impressive match winning 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles against 20th ranked Carnegie Mellon. He also clinched the doubles point for Sewanee winning at #2 doubles against CMU. 
  • Taegan Terry/Brayden Bolch (Hendrix) - picked up their first win as a doubles pairing this week against Letourneau University 6-3 giving the Hendrix Warriors the doubles point and helping them secure team win. 
  • Carson Chassaignac/Brady St. Martin - victorious in a pair of matches on Court 2 over the weekend. The pair won 6-1, helping the Majors best Blue Mountain Christian on Saturday before winning 8-3 against nationally ranked Jones College on Sunday.
  • Remi Jakobi/Ben Lammert (Sewanee) - defeated #20 Carnegie Melon at #3 doubles by a score of 6-3 to clinch the doubles point for Sewanee. This was Ben and Remi‘s first match together of the year.
