Sewanee blanks Transylvania in round one of the NCAA Tournament

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sarah Livingston clinched the match for the Tigers as they defeated Transylvania in the first round of the NCAA Championships, 4-0.

Sewanee started out strong in doubles as Ansley Carpenter and Brooke Despriet did not drop a game, winning at No. 1, 6-0. Livingston and Harper High clinched the doubles point for Sewanee with a 6-2 win at No. 3. 

In singles, Carpenter cruised to a quick finish, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Despriet followed at three, dropping just one game all day for a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Livingston clinched the match for Sewanee at No. 2, winning 6-1, 6-1. 

The Tigers' win marks the 11th straight match Sewanee has won without dropping a point. 

Sewanee will face No. 26 Kenyon in the second round of the Championships on tournament, May 10 at 2 p.m.
