2026 SAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Ready for Action

DANVILLE, Ky. - The third annual Southern Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championship is set and ready for February 27-28 in Champions Hall.

Men's Indoor Track and Field
Trinity University was tabbed as the preseason favorite for the 2026 SAA title, and the Tigers head to Danville with championship history in their sights. Kyle Fix sits just two seconds shy of the SAA All-Time record in the 800 meters and owns the conference’s fastest time this season. Kris Duggan has already etched his name into the record books, setting a new SAA mark in the 60-meter hurdles (8.28). Thomas Melina Raab leads the league in the mile (4:15.48), while freshman Eli Bliss holds the SAA’s top 3,000-meter time of 2026.

In the field, Bocar Diagana looks to soar to triple jump gold. He and Centre College standout Cree Ross are currently tied for the top mark in the conference at 14.69 meters, setting up one of the weekend’s most anticipated showdowns.

Centre enters the championship with five top marks during the 2025–26 season. Freshman Jayden Channer paces the league in the 60 meters, while junior Beau Brown leads the way in both the 200 and 400 meters. Multi-sport standout Cree Ross also tops the conference in the long jump and triple jump, and sophomore David Harless owns the leading mark in the shot put. The Colonels remain the only SAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field champions in conference history, having totaled 265 points to claim the 2025 title.

Berry College, last year’s runner-up with 150 points across the two-day meet, returns a strong core in the throwing events while adding fresh talent to bolster its championship pursuit.

Women's Indoor Track and Field
Centre College was selected to capture its third consecutive SAA title, backed by the reigning Coaching Staff of the Year and a roster stacked with elite performers.

Chloe Hein has been nothing short of dominant. The five-time All-American continues to rewrite the record books, breaking her own long jump record for the fourth time this season and currently leading the nation in the event. Hein also tops the SAA rankings in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, positioning herself as one of the most versatile athletes in the country.

In their first season of SAA competition, Trinity University was picked to finish second. Senior Gianna Keena holds the conference’s top times this season in both the mile and 3,000 meters, while sophomore Anne Snider leads the way in the 5,000 meters.

Berry’s women are powered in the field by Onoyeme Egure in the shot put, Avery Jones in the weight throw, and newcomer Laney Ray in the pole vault, giving the Vikings a strong foundation heading into championship weekend.

Competition will begin at noon on Friday, February 28 with the high jump, weight throw, and long jump. Running events get underway at 4:30 p.m. Saturday’s finals start at 9am with the triple jump, shot put, and pole vault. The mile starts track events at 11:30 a.m. with the final event, 4x400m relay scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
