SAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Report - Feb. 17, 2026

CANTON, Ga.  – In week six of competition for Men's Indoor Track and Field, Berry's 4x400 Relay Team and Cree Ross of Centre earned athlete of the week honors.

Athletes of the Week:
Track:
4x400m Relay Team | Berry - The relay team of Braylon Kirkpatrick, Tommy Bourdreaux, Corbin Dutcher, and Berkey Powell combined to run a 3:24.49 at the Samford Open, breaking the Berry Indoor School Record in the event by 3 seconds.  It is the fastest time run in the SAA this season and they are ranked #6 in the South Region

Field:
Cree Ross | Centre | JR | Panama City, FL - Cree Ross recorded a seasonal best mark for Centre men's track & field in the triple jump this weekend at the Centre Indoor Invitational. Ross posted a mark of 48-2.5 (14.69m), which was the second best indoor triple jump of his career, trailing only his All-American mark from last season's NCAA Championships. Ross currently ranks at the top of the SAA standings in both the long jump and triple jump.
 
Notable Performances
Track:
  • Reeve VanDemark | Centre | SR | Lexington, KY - Reeve VanDemark made program history this past weekend at the Centre Indoor Invite and Multis. Racing in the mile, the senior distance runner posted a time of 4:20.88 (converted to 4:17.60 for track size), breaking the school record he set one season ago by nearly three seconds. VanDemark currently ranks second in the conference standings in the mile.
  • Zachary Benner | Oglethorpe | SR | Buford, GA - Oglethorpe senior Zachary Benner nabbed the top mark in the SAA this past weekend in the 5k. He ran 14:51 for an Oglethorpe record in the event.
  • Diego Donald | Rhodes | JR - Ran 8:47.71 in the 3000 Meter Run to finish 2nd overall in the Samford Open Meet on Saturday in Birmingham.
  • Declan Oberlies | Sewanee | SO | Greensboro, NC - Declan Oberlies delivered a standout weekend at the Centre Invitational, highlighted by a first-place finish in the men’s 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 15:55.91. Oberlies took control of the race early, seizing the lead with 1,000 meters remaining and holding it through the finish to claim the victory. His time ranks fifth all-time in Sewanee history. Oberlies also competed in the men’s 3,000 meters, finishing in 9:04.45, a mark that moves him from seventh to sixth on Sewanee’s all-time list. 
Field:
  • Dawson Livingston | Berry | SR - Livingston won the Weight Throw at the Samford Open with a season best throw of 16.98m.  The throw moves him into the top spot in the SAA so far this season and is the second farthest throw in the South Region this season.  Livingston also placed 6th in the Shot Put at the meet.
  • Jordan McQueen | Oglethorpe | JR | Kapolei, HI - Oglethorpe junior Jordan McQueen broke the Oglethorpe record with the third-best mark in the SAA this past weekend in the triple jump. He jumped 13.92 meters which was a personal best. McQueen also competed in the long jump this weekend and set a personal best in that event as well.
