ATLANTA, Ga. (November 1, 2023) – SAA women’s soccer players of the year Brianna Fee of Sewanee and Lindsay Carr from Centre headline 60 student-athletes named to 2023 All-Conference teams. Ella Price of Oglethorpe earned Newcomer of the Year honors and Sewanee leader Greg Cathell was voted Coach of the Year.
Offensive Player of the Year Brianna Fee (Junior/Lee’s Summit, Mo.) tallied a conference-best 13 points in SAA play, tying for the conference lead with six goals and adding an assist. The junior had a breakout game against Millsaps, scoring three goals on just four shots. Fee had five game-winning goals, including four in conference play, to lead the Tigers to a second-straight SAA regular season championship. She was honorable mention All-SAA as a first year and landed on the second team last season.
Defensive Player of the Year Lindsay Carr (Junior/Charleston, W.Va.) orchestrated a Centre defense that surrendered just five goals in conference play and allowed the Colonels to lead the league with a 2.86 scoring average. The junior moved to outside back this season and thrived after a first team All-SAA season at center back last year. The junior was second on Centre’s squad with 1457 minutes played and also bolstered the attack with a goal and an assist on the season.
Newcomer of the Year Ella Price (First Year/Norcross, Ga.) made a splash in her first collegiate season, leading the Stormy Petrels with six goals on the season. She scored three times in SAA play and had the first multi-score game of her career with two goals against Millsaps. Price tallied game winners in the season opener against Agnes Scott and in a 1-0 win over Berry. The first year started every game for Oglethorpe.
Coach of the Year Greg Cathell repeated as the SAA Coach of the Year after leading Sewanee to a second-straight regular season championship. The Tigers ran the table in the SAA for the first time in program history behind the stingiest defense in the conference. Sewanee surrendered just two goals in conference play while posting a SAA second-best 19 goals. Cathell led the Tigers to a 11-1-4 regular season and will host the finals of the SAA Tournament.
Voting for All-SAA awards was conducted among the conference’s eight head coaches.
