CANTON, Ga.  – Jimmie Hester and Garrett George capture the final men's swimming and diving athlete of the week as teams take a break until January.

Athletes of the Week:  

Swimming:  
Jimmie Hester | Trinity | FR | Round Rock, TX – Jack Hester had a record setting weekend at the Tiger Invite. He demolished Trinity school records in the 100 (48.11) and 200 (1:47.25) backstroke events. Both of those times are NCAA B cuts. Jack also split a 19.88 on the 200 freestyle relay, becoming the fourth Tiger in the last five years to split under the 20 second mark! Individually Jack also posted a lifetime best 50 freestyle of 20.77 (#7 in Trinity history) to win the event. Jack was key to all four team relay wins. He led the 400 medley relay off with a split of 48.55 and posted a 22.55 50 backstroke on the winning 200 medley. Jack wrapped up his weekend with a 45.47 100 freestyle, leading off the 400 freestyle relay. That's a best time by two seconds and moves him to #6 in school history. 

Diving:  
Garrett George | Centre | SR | Huntsville, AL –In the Speedo Invitational, Garrett George won the 3-meter competition with a total score of 534.55 points, just 11.95 points off a school record. He also finished 2nd in the 1-meter competition with 496.80 points, less than 3 points away from victory.

Swimming

  • Nick Fonzo | Berry | JR | Carlsbad, CA – A junior from Carlsbad, CA Fonzo helped lead the Vikings men to a 4th place finish out of 12 teams at the Speedo Centre Mid Season Invite. Fonzo placed 4th in the 100 back with a 49.95, 5th in the 200 back with a season best 1:52.22, 3rd in the 100 fly with a season best 50.31and 7th in the 200 IM with a 1:55.18. He also shone in the relays splitting a 1:46.38 in the leadoff leg of the 800 free that finished 9th, leading off the 200 medley with a season best 22.95 in the 50 back as the team took 7th and then splitting a 50.01 in the 100 back to lead off the 400 medley relay that placed 6th. He also record a D3 b cut in the 100 back prelims with a 49.04.
  • Tiernan Moore | Centre | SO | Versailles, KY – Tiernan Moore was part of Centre's 200 & 400 medley relay teams that broke program records in this weekend's Speedo Invitational. The 400 medley relay broke the program record by 1.31 seconds to finish with a time of 3:21.72. Moore also helped break the 200 medley record by .06 seconds with a time of 1:32.05. Individually, Moore reached an NCAA B-cut time in the 100-yard breaststroke, winning the event in a time of 54.65 seconds, just 0.16 seconds off his own school record. He also set a meet record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 2:01.14, besting his preliminary time by 3.25 seconds.
  • Andrew Olsen | Sewanee | SO | Atlanta, GA – Olsen set school-records in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke and was part of a school-record 200-yard medley relay at the Speedo Centre Invitational. He won the 100-yard backstroke in 49.00, which now ranks him in the Top 10 nationally in D3, and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in 45.35. He finished 10th in the 50 freestyle in 21.29. He was part of the 800-yard freestyle relay that finished sixth, leading off in 1:41.91, and anchored the seventh-place 400-yard freestyle relay in 44.85. The 200-yard freestyle relay placed ninth with his anchoring time of 20.56 and the 400-yard medley relay was 10th, with Olsen swimming the 100-yard backstroke in 50.11.

Diving

  • Jonah Kearns | Sewanee | FR | Lexington, KY – Kearns placed third in the one-meter with 486.50 points and finished fourth in the three-meter with 441.40 points.
  • Max Rolla-Mullis | Trinity | SR | Ann Arbor, MI – Max Rolla-Mullis finished third on both boards in the six dive competition at the Tiger Invite meet. He totaled 219.25 points on three meter and 210.75 on the one meter board.
