SAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Report – February 3, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – The SAA indoor track & field championship is less than a month away as teams continue to put up impressive individual marks. Sewanee hosted the Tigers Indoor open with Berry also in attendance. Centre traveled to Wittenberg and finished third of 19 teams at the Steemer Showcase. Oglethorpe earned six points at the University of South Alabama Jaguar Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Track Athlete of the Week:
Madjo Doumbia | Centre | Senior | Philadelphia, Pa. – enjoyed an impressive day at the Wittenberg Steemer Showcase. The senior started the day with the top 60m time in the SAA, stopping the clock at 7.68 seconds. The mark is also ranked eighth in Division III. She also had a strong run in the 200m dash, posting the nation’s seventh best time and top SAA performance with a 28.84.
 
Field Athlete of the Week:
Serena McNeilly | Center | Sophomore | Fayetteville, Ga. - made her season debut in the Triple Jump and did not disappoint.  She won the event with a new personal best distance of 11.79 meters (38'8.25"), ranking No. 1 in the SAA and No. 12 in the nation.  Serena also competed in the High Jump and tied her personal best and Centre school record of 1.68 meters (5'6").  This mark also ranks her No. 1 on the SAA Performance List and No. 8 in all of NCAA Division III.
Notable Performances:
  • Hannah Rhodes (Oglethorpe) - ran an 11 second PR in the mile Sunday at the Southern Alabama Invitational.  Her time of 5:21 puts her at the top of the SAA performance list and is also a 11 second school record.
  • Laney Kalsu (Sewanee) - an in her first collegiate meet, placing second in the 400m, securing a top-5 time in the SAA standings, running a 1:03.28.
  • Onoyeme Egure (Berry) - opened up the indoor season winning the weight throw with anew lifetime PR (15.05m) which is now the number 4 spot in the Berry record books. Egure had another top three finish in the shot put, placing third (11.82m).
  • Amirah Ali (Oglethorpe) - started her season of triple jump but making the finals at the Southern Alabama Invitational.  This first year jumped a 35' 5.75 to place her in the top three of the SAA leaderboard.
