SAA Men’s Tennis Report – March 11, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – SAA men’s tennis continues to play through the nonconference season with league action set to begin at the end of March. Sewanee is ranked No. 23 in the nation with standout Jordan Theron ranked 28 in singles. He joins doubles partner Quinn Wicklund to rank eighth in Division III. Rhodes leads the way with a 5-2 dual meet record while Centre is 4-2.

Athletes of the Week:
SINGLES
Remi Jakobi | Sewanee | Junior | Tallinn, Estonia  - started the Tigers California trip in a big way, clinching the deciding point against Division II Westmont in Santa Barbara. The junior won the No. 3 singles position 7-6, 6-1 in just his second singles start of the season.
 
DOUBLES:
Ben Lammert | Sewanee | First Year | Borden, Ind.
Remi Jakobi | Sewanee | Junior | Tallinn, Estonia
The duo from Sewanee moved to 2-0 together after their win against Westmont College. Their first win together came last week against 20th ranked Carnegie Mellon at #3 doubles. They followed up their strong play with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles against Westmont on Saturday to get Sewanee on the board en route to winning the doubles point. 
 
Notable Performances:
  • Carson Chassaignac (Millsaps) - was strong in a pair of matches on Court 2 singles over the weekend. He bested an Asbury opponent (6-3, 6-1) in Jackson on Friday and defeated a Roger Williams foe (6-0, 6-3) in Orlando on Sunday.
  • Anderson Dulaney/Sam Tuli (Millsaps) - earned a pair of wins on Court 1 doubles over the weekend. The duo won 6-0 against Asbury in Jackson, Miss. on Friday before besting a Roger Williams pair, 6-3 in Orlando on Sunday.
