SAA Women’s Tennis Report – March 11, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – Rhodes is on a five-match winning streak to sit atop the SAA women’s tennis standings during the nonconference season. The Lynx are 5-2 while Berry and Centre are both 4-1. Sewanee is ranked No. 19 in the country.

Athletes of the Week:
SINGLES
Ivy Wilson | Sewanee | Sophomore | Tulsa, Okla.  – posted a 2-0 record over the weekend to get the Tigers Spring Break trip to California started. The sophomore defeated Melody Chaffari of UC Santa Cruz 6-2, 6-2 and then took down Belle Zhou of #2 ranked Claremont Mudd Scripps 6-4,6-7,10-4. Wilson is 5-1 for the spring with her only loss coming to Sarena Biria of #1 ranked Chicago. 
 
DOUBLES:
Brooke Despriet | Sewanee | Senior | Cumming, Ga.
Ansley Carpenter | Sewanee | Senior | Newnan, Ga.
The No. 2 ranked doubles team in the nation defeated Beckman/Sprengger of UC Santa Cruz 6-0 and took down #8 Chulani/Eisenman  of #2 ranked Claremont Mudd Scripps 7-6 during the Tigers Spring Break trip to California.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Riley McClain (Millsaps) - earned a pair of wins over the weekend. She won 6-1, 6-0 against Asbury on Court 6 on Friday and won 6-2, 6-3 on Court 4 versus a Roger Williams opponent on Sunday.
