CANTON, Ga.  – After an amazing opening weekend the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference has named Mackenzie Proffitt and Caroline Naifeh as the offensive and defensive athletes of the week, respectively.

Athletes of the Week:
Offense:
Mackenzie Proffitt | Mary Washington | JR | Fredericksburg, Tenn.  – Junior midfielder Mackenzie Proffitt spearheaded Mary Washington's season-opening win at Roanoke College on Friday, scoring a pair of goals and adding one assist in the 5-1 triumph. Proffitt had been named to the NFHCA National Watch List earlier in the week.
 
 
Defense:
Caroline Naifeh | Rhodes | SO | Oklahoma City, Okla. – Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Naifeh anchored the Lynx defense in a 3-0 shutout victory over Wittenberg. Naifeh played the full 60 minutes in goal, facing zero shots on goal and recording her first shutout of the season. Her composure and control in the circle helped limit Wittenberg to just two total shots throughout the match, keeping the defensive unit organized and preserving Rhodes’ undefeated start to the season.
 

 
Offense Notable Performances:
  • Hannah Lawson | Concordia | SO | St. Louis, Mo.  – The sophomore scored her first collegiate goal on Friday in a 3-1 victory over Transylvania.
  • Allyson Nichols | Marian | SR | Little Falls, N.Y. – Senior Allyson Nichols opened her final campaign as a Sabre with a six-point game against Transylvania in an 8-1 victory.  Nichols scored two goals with two assists, the fifth time in her career with multiple goals and assists in the same game. 
  • Bella Spina | Rhodes | JR | Voorhees, NJ – Rhodes junior forward Bella Spina had a standout performance in the Lynx’s 3-0 victory over Wittenberg on August 30, 2025. Spina recorded one goal and two assists, totaling four points in the match. She tallied three shots with a .333 shooting percentage, placing one shot on goal. Spina started and played 60 minutes in the contest, helping lead the offense to its first win of the season.

Defense Notable Performances:
  • Carlijn van der Bend | Concordia | SO | Voorburg, Netherlands – Posted a .500 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average in the 3-1 victory over Transylvania.
  • Tori Winans | Mary Washington| JR | Virginia Beach, Va.  – Tori Winans led Mary Washington to a 5-1 victory over Roanoke College in the season opener on Friday. She recorded a pair of saves, and allowed one score late in the fourth quarter.
