SAA Women's Cross Country Report - Sept. 9, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – Sophomore Elena Gentry claims week two Athlete of the Week honors from the Southern Athletic Association.

Athlete of the Week: 

Athlete: 
Elena Gentry | Rhodes | SO | Des Moines, IA –  Placed 1st at the Bob Gravett Invitational (hosted by Ouachita Baptist Univ) out of a field of 94 runners (mostly DII schools).  Her time of 17:52 over 5000 meters was a personal best.  Previous best mark for 5K xc was 19:05 last year as a freshmen.   
  
Notable Performances: 

  • Ariel Ellis | Berry | SR | Brookhaven, GA – Ellis put an a dominant performance in the Equal Distance Meet at home winning the 8k event in a time of 31:32 as the Vikings took first overall. 

  • Sophie Bouldin | Centre | SR | Louisville, KY – Sophie had a very solid race this past weekend at the Grizzly Invitational hosted by Franklin College in Shelbyville, IN.  Sophie toured the slightly long 5K course in 19:04 finishing a strong 3rd place out of a field of nearly 100 runners.  Sophie helped lead her team to a 2nd place finish only 4 points behind the reigning Great Lakes Regional Championship team DePauw University.
