Athletes of the Week: 
Pitcher: 
JJ Sweat | Berry | FR  – JJ dominated in her first collegiate start in game two against Maryville, with a complete game shutout that included 8 strikeouts, just two walks and two hits given up, and help the Scots hitless until the top of the fourth inning to guide the Vikings to a 5-0 win.

Athlete: 
Isabela Barber | Rhodes | FR | Fredericksburg, VA – Isabela Barber put in a solid performance at the plate and in the field in the Lynx's wins against Webster and Ozarks. She went 3 for 5 with 2 walks, hitting .600 with an OBP of .714. Solid defensively as well, the freshman from Virginia helped the Lynx secure two victories this weekend.

Pitcher

  • Hailey Peterson | Millsaps | SO | Metairie, LA – Millsaps softball sophomore pitcher and shortstop Hailey Peterson helped shut down No. 16 Huntingdon in her season debut in the circle. In 4.1 innings, she held the Hawks to one earned run, three hits and one walk. Peterson was also credited with three RBIs on two error plays, leading to an 8-5 triumph. It was the Majors' first win over a ranked opponent since 2022.
  • Abby Froelich | Rhodes | FR | Prairieville, LA – Freshman pitcher Abby Froelich, picked up a win and a save, with 4.2 total innings with a 0.0 ERA. Striking out 7, the freshman proved that she will be a good addition to the Lynx pitching staff. Not only did she pick up the save for the Lynx against Ozarks by throwing 2 scoreless innings in the 4-0 win, she went in against Webster once they had tied the game and immediately shut them down and finished the game strong and secured the 4-3 win for the Lynx! 
  • Reagan Hiskey | Sewanee | JR | Huntsville, AL – Huskey pitched in all four games over the weekend, posting a 2-2 record. She worked 4.1 innings in the season opener against MUW, striking out five and giving up eight hits. She tossed the final 1.1 innings Friday versus Covenant, allowing two unearned runs with two strikeouts, picking up the win. Huskey scattered six hits in a complete-game, 3-0 shutout of Covenant on Saturday, giving up one walk with four strikeouts. She suffered the loss Saturday against MUW, allowing one run on one hit in one-third of an inning.


Athlete

  • Elly Bennett | Berry | SR – Elly was an all-around star in the Vikings' sweep against Maryville in their doubleheader meeting with a total of 4 RBI on 3 hits, 2 runs scored, and a .428 batting average over the two-game span. Her game two was masterful, with 2 hits (one extra base hit) and 3 RBI, powering the Vikings to a 5-0 win.
  • Abbie Buckner | Sewanee | JR | Corryton, TN – Buckner batted .500 (7-for-14) across four games for the Tigers with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored. She recorded two hits with a triple, one RBI and one run scored in the opener Friday against MUW and followed that with two hits and one run scored versus Covenant. On Saturday she was 3-for-3 with two walks, one run and one RBI in the second contest versus MUW. Buckner also pitched twice over the two days, tossing 4.2 innings and giving up two runs on six hits on Friday against Covenant and 5.1 innings versus MUW, allowing one earned run on six hits but getting no decision in either game.
  • Macey Gilman | Southwestern | SO | Kingwood, TX – Sophomore Macey Gilman turned in a strong offensive performance in Southwestern’s doubleheader against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, helping the Pirates earn a split on the day. Gilman combined to go 4-for-8 at the plate with three RBIs and two doubles across the two games. She recorded a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI in game one before adding two RBIs in game two, providing key run production in the Pirates’ victory.
