Centre Captures Third Straight SAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Crown

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre Colonels have claimed their third straight Southern Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Claiming their third championship, the Centre Coaching Staff won the SAA Coaching Staff of the Year. 

The Centre's success on day two started early as they went 1-2 in the shot put with Luke Cole capturing the new SAA record at 16.00m. Cree Ross followed up the gold medal performance with one of his own in the triple jump, setting an SAA record at 14.53m.

The field events concluded with the pole vault, where Berry secured the top spot on the podium with Andrew Popp's mark of 4.20m as a freshman.

Berry's Dawson Livingston received the Throws Athlete of the Year award for his strong performance throughout the season while Southwestern's Lukas Nowlin was named the Jumps Athlete of the Year.

SAA Distance Athlete of the Year, Thomas Melina Raab of Trinity captured the men's mile title at 4:23.99 and was followed by Reeve VanDemark of Centre in second for eight Colonel points.

Trinity senior, Kris Duggan won the 60m hurdles with a new conference record of 8.31, with Justin Lewis of Centre close behind at 8.33.

At 48.87 seconds, Centre's Jackson Heim set a conference record in the 400m. Cree Ross finalized his jumping and headed to the track to win the 60m. Freshman Jayden Channer, also a Colonel, came in second place. Channer was on his way to being named the SAA Rookie of the Year and the Sprints Athlete of the Year after winning the 200m.

The night closed with a final SAA record broken in the 4x400m relay with Trinity taking the top spot at 3:23.91. 

Centre held strong and refused to be defeated on their home track on the way to another SAA title on the Lisa Owens Track.
