Berry Women Out Front at SAA Outdoor Championships

ROME, Ga. - Berry women lead the race for the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field title.

Berry dominated the field events with a statement performance, recording top-two finishes in the pole vault and javelin while placing four athletes in the top four of the hammer throw. Malysha Winston led the charge with a record-breaking effort in the hammer, setting a new SAA Outdoor Championship mark at 50.15m. Teammates Avery Jones, Onoyeme Egure, and Madeline Campbell added valuable points, finishing second through fourth to give the Vikings a major boost.

In the pole vault, Laney Ray captured the title with a clearance of 3.56m, while Ella Pine secured second at 3.41m, combining for 18 points. Trinity followed with finishes from third through sixth. Berry continued its strong showing in the javelin, where Ayla Husby claimed gold with a throw of 38.58m and Macy Murdock added a runner-up finish at 36.67m.

Chloe Hein carried over her indoor success into the outdoor season, winning the long jump with another SAA Outdoor Championship record, leaping 6.37m. Trinity’s Annabelle Lanik followed in second at 5.86m.

On the track, Trinity found success in the 10,000m, going one-two with Anne Snider taking the win in 37:22.72 and Gianna Keena earning silver.

In the 3000 steeplechase, Southwestern earned their first SAA Outdoor hardware with a gold for Breanna Steele (11:14.90) and a bronze for Addison Jackson (11:47.23).

Preliminary rounds in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 100m hurdles, and 400m hurdles were also contested, setting the stage for tomorrow’s finals.
