Four Straight - Centre Women Own SAA Outdoor Track and Field Title

ROME, Ga. - The Centre Colonels have completed the four-peat for the Southern Athletic Association Women's Outdoor Track and Field title.

With four consecutive titles the Centre staff was named the SAA Coaching Staff of the Year for the 2026 season.

Centre’s dominance began in the field events, setting the tone early. The Colonels swept the discus with a 1-2-3 finish, led by SAA Throws Athlete of the Year Zoey Shahid-Scott, who claimed gold with a mark of 42.95m. Shahid-Scott also added a runner-up finish in the shot put, where Berry’s Onoyeme Egure broke her own SAA Championship record with a throw of 13.84m.

The duo of Serena McNeilly and Chloe Hein continued Centre’s momentum in the jumps, taking the top two spots in the triple jump. McNeilly secured the title with a leap of 11.89m, then followed it up with a win in the high jump (1.68m), while Hein contributed additional points with a third-place finish.

Hein also made her mark on the track, earning SAA Sprints Athlete of the Year honors. She played a key role in Centre’s second-place 4x100m relay team and captured individual titles in both the 100m and 200m.

Runner-up Trinity showcased its strength in distance events, highlighted by Distance Athlete of the Year Gianna Keena, who won the 5,000m in 17:44.87. The Tigers dominated the race with a 1-2-3 finish, as Emerson Voldan and Anne Snider also dipped under the 18-minute mark.

In the 1,500m, Southwestern’s Breanna Steele claimed the conference title in 4:40.14, with Trinity’s Voldan finishing second and Rhodes’ Anna Cantrell placing third.

Trinity continued its strong showing in the 800m, securing the top two finishes behind Ciara Catton and Halle Hamilton.

Berry’s Macy Murdock controlled the hurdles, winning both the 100m hurdles (14.99) and the 400m hurdles, where she set a new SAA Championship record with a time of 1:02.46.

The Vikings also featured SAA Rookie of the Year Laney Ray, who delivered a standout all-around performance. The freshman earned five points in the 400m, four in the triple jump, and claimed the pole vault title for 10 points—finishing with 19 total points for Berry.
