Athlete of the Week:
Malachi Dooley | Oglethorpe | SR | Mt. Airy, GA – Oglethorpe senior guard Malachi Dooley posted back-to-back double-doubles and finished the weekend with a career high 31 points in a road win over Covenant. He led the Petrels in both games of the week and also tallied six assists in Saturday's victory.
Notable Performances:
- Drake Ingram | Centre | SO | Knoxville, TN – Drake Ingram played a huge role in Centre men's basketball's sweep of the 84 Lumber Classic this weekend at Covenant. On Friday at Covenant, Ingram came off the bench to lead all players with a career high 31 points, with 22 of them coming in the second half, helping Centre overcome a 13-point deficit to defeat the Scots 112-108. Ingram made the final four free throws of the game to ice it for the Colonels. The following day against LeTourneau, Ingram got the first start of his career and again led the way for Centre, pouring in 24 points in an 88-75 victory.
- Jaxon Toney | Millsaps | JR | Memphis, TN – Millsaps men's basketball junior center Jaxon Toney was a key difference maker, helping the Majors better a pair of Magnolia State foes during the week. Millsaps improved to 4-0 after defeating Belhaven, 76-73 and MUW, 81-75 at home. Toney averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, shooting 56.5 percent (13-for-23), while adding a steal.
- Trevor Lombard | Rhodes – Trevor Lombard was efficient and productive in Rhodes’ 76–54 win, finishing with a team-high 21 points on an elite 8–12 shooting(66.7%) and 4–8 from three. He added 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and committed zero turnovers across 31 minutes. Lombard’s scoring came in every phase—spot-up threes, transition finishes, and midrange creation—while his +21 impact fueled multiple scoring runs that broke the game open. His combination of efficiency, volume scoring, and mistake-free play makes him a standout.
- Nikolas Avaliani | Sewanee | FR | Marietta, GA – Avaliani netted 28 points with eight rebounds in 27 minutes of action in Sewanee's only game of the week at Piedmont. The freshman made 12-of-21 shots overall with a pair of 3-pointers in just his fourth career game.
- Zach Shugars | Southwestern | JR | New Albany, MS – Shugars dominated in a career night in the narrow loss at Texas Lutheran on Friday night. Shugars was locked in from all levels with 27 points, getting to the line with ease going 9 for 10. Shugars also totaled five rebounds in the effort.
- Dylan Walker | Trinity | JR | Highland Park, TX –Walker led the Trinity men's basketball team to a pair of wins at the Great Lakes Invitational over the weekend, defeating Marietta 86-81 in overtime and Case Western 75-59 the next night. Walker started the weekend with his best game as a Tiger, scoring a career-high 33 points in the overtime victory. He shot 13-of-26 from the field, 6-for-13 from three-point range, then added five rebounds and a pair of steals. He followed that with 10 points in just 17 minutes of a blowout win against Case Western.
