SAA Women’s Tennis Report – March 18, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – With conference play slated to heat up in the coming weeks, Rhodes leads the SAA standings at 7-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. Berry sits at 4-1 while Centre is 5-2.

Athletes of the Week:
SINGLES
Mariella Congeni | Sewanee | Sophomore | New Orleans, La. - clinched the match for 19th-ranked Sewanee against 30th-ranked Vassar. The sophomore played at No. 3 singles and posted a 0-6,6-1,7-6 win over Sieun Lee. Congeni is currently 8-4 for the year. 
 
DOUBLES:
Graci Rask | Rhodes | Junior | Portland, Ore.
Emma McHale | Rhodes | Senior | Atlanta, Ga.
Went 3-1 on the week at the No. 1 doubles position with wins over Haverford, Franklin & Marshall, and North Park University. Each of the wins help secure the doubles point and lead to team victories in all three matches.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Riley McClain (Millsaps) - posted a 3-1 record in her final four matches at Spring Break Tennis in Orlando. Her three wins came on Court Three over challengers from University of Northwestern - St. Paul (6-0, 6-2), Covenant College (6-0, 6-1) and Piedmont University (6-4, 6-4).
  • Carlie Mitchell/Grace Williams (Centre) – sitting at a perfect 5-0 in 2025, dispatched Skye Maclean and Eva Cancarevic of the Cumberlands by a tally of 6-4. The Patriots are ranked 19th in the NAIA.
  • Mary Dabadie/Mackenzie Vordick (Millsaps) - won their final three matches at Spring Break Tennis in Orlando, helping the Majors secure a pair of wins in those contests. The pair bettered opponents from University of Northwestern - St. Paul (6-1), Covenant College (6-2) and Piedmont University (7-5) on Court One.
  • Sarah Livingston/Mariella Congeni (Sewanee) - won 6-2 against  Sofie Shen and Elyse Duley of #30 Vassar College  during the last match of our spring break. They are currently 4-2 for the year.
