Athletes of the Week: 
Pitcher: 
Austin Graber | Sewanee | SO | Highlands Ranch, CO  - Graber allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts in a career-best seven innings of work, inducing three groundball doubleplays and keeping the Eagles off the scoreboard over his final six innings. He retired the side in order in the third and fourth innings and worked around two walks in the fifth and an error in the sixth. Asbury grounded into doubleplays to end the first, fifth and seventh innings and was unable to take advantage of three walks and a hit batter issued by Graber. He threw just 79 pitches in the seven innings. Asbury scored within the first three batters of the game. Sewanee led 3-1 before scoring twice in the fifth and sixth innings to break open the contest.

Athlete:
Zach Fortman | Sewanee | JR | Clinton, SC - 
Fortman batted .733 (11-for-15) with one double, two triples, three home runs, nine runs scored and 18 RBIs in four games for the Tigers. He was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored in a midweek contest against Covenant. In Saturday's doubleheader versus Asbury, he singled home a run and hit a two-run homer before breaking a 5-5 tie in the seventh with a bases-clearing triple, giving him six RBIs in game one (4-for-4 in the game). In the second contest he tripled home a run and added an RBI on a bases-loaded walk before hitting a grand slam and then a three-run homer, all in the first five innings, giving him nine RBIs in the game and 15 for the day. He added a single and a run scored (was also hit once) in the series finale.

Pitcher

  • Tommy Severson | Centre | FR | Houston, TX  - Tommy Severson improved to 3-0 on the year as he had his longest outing of the season in Centre's win over Wabash on Saturday. Coming into the game with one out in the fourth and the bases loaded, Severson pitched the rest of the game for the Colonels, going 5.2 innings and striking out seven while allowing just one run in a 12-6 victory for the Colonels. Severson's 0.61 ERA leads the team and ranks third in the SAA among qualified pitchers.
  • Tate Henderson | Oglethorpe | SR | Chamblee, GA  - Oglethorpe senior Tate Henderson threw his second straight quality start last week against LaGrange. He scattered six hits and a walk while striking out six on the way to improving to 2-0 on the season. His only blemish came in the top of the second on a safety squeeze that plated one run.
  • Cameron Chambers | Southwestern | FR | Spring, TX  - Chambers was the Pirates top reliver this week, emerging into high leverage late game scenarios against Hardin-Simmons. Chambers logged 6.0 innings pitched with only 2 earned runs on four strikeouts. 
  • Jake Beck | Trinity | SO | Austin, TX  - Beck led the top-ranked Tigers to a 7-4 win over #7 Kean University (NJ) on Saturday, evening the series between the two top-ten opponents. Beck improved to 2-0 this season after pitching 6.2 innings to start the second game of the series, allowing just three runs on nine hits against the potent Kean offense, walking just two batters and recording two strikeouts.

  • Ayden Lohr | Centre | JR | Hebron, Ky. - Ayden Lohr increased his season batting average to .487 this weekend after hitting .533 (8-15) across a three-game sweep for Centre against Wabash. In the first game of the series, he connected on a pair of two-run home runs, the last of which tied the game with one out in the ninth as Centre eventually won 8-7 on a walk-off. In the second game, Lohr went 4-6 at the plate, with his four hits representing a season high in a 12-6 win for the Colonels. Lohr also stole two more bases over the weekend, increasing his league-leading total to 16.
  • Carston Williams | Millsaps | SO | Shelbyville, TN - Millsaps baseball sophomore Carston Williams recorded a .556 on-base and .800 slugging percentage for the Majors in four games during the week. He batted .467 (7-for-15) with four runs, an RBI, three doubles, a triple, two walks, a stolen base, and was hit by a pitch.
  • Trey Kinnan | Oglethorpe | JR | Kennesaw, GA - Oglethorpe junior Trey Kinnan posted a strong week at the plate with seven hits, including a pair of three-hit games to help the Stormy Petrels win the weekend series over LaGrange. He had a double and only one strikeout batting primarily from the two-hole in the lineup.
  • Connor Duffey | Southwestern | SR | Houston, TX - Duffey batted .600 against Concordia (TX) and Hardin-Simmons at 6 for 10 with 2 RBI's, 3 runs, and 3 walks.
