Centre Edges Berry for SAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Title

DANVILLE, Ky. (March 1, 2025) – Behind eight individual golds and a relay win, Centre captured its second SAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday.
 
The Colonels Madjo Doumbia won three events and earned High Point Scorer of the Meet honors while Lisa Owens of Centre was voted the Coach of the Year.
 
Centre totaled 228 points during the two-day event hosted at its own Champions Hall. Berry was right behind in second with 206 points while third-place Rhodes tallied 91 points.
 
Centre scored big points in the jumps with Serena McNeilly winning the high jump in 1.74m and triple jump in 11.88 meters. Teammate Chloe Hein was the winner of the long jump (5.86m) with McNeilly right behind in second.
 
On the track, Doumbia set championship records in winning the 60m dash (7.55), 200m dash (24.99), and 400m dash (58.75m). Alexandria Masden of Centre also captured gold, setting a new conference record of 9.21 seconds in the 60m hurdles. Gracie West ws the champion of the 5k, clocking 18:16.03. 
 
Berry swept the podium in the weight throw, led by Avery Jones’ record setting toss of 15.93m. Onoyeme Egure was second (15.13) and Malysha Winston was third (14.17m). Egure won the shot put with a huge record distance of 13.94m. Winston was second at 12.21m. Madeline Hubbert is the SAA pole vault champion, clearing a record 3.38m. Anna Rose was a double-winner, taking the mile (5:10.27) and 3k (10:29.26).
