SAA Announces Women’s Track & Field Athletes of the Year

CANTON, Ga. (May 14, 2025) – The Southern Athletic Association has announced its 2025 Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year.
 
Selections were made by the conference’s head coaches.
 
Senior sprinter Madjo Doumbia of Centre is the Track Athlete of the Year while teammate Serena McNeilly is the Field Athlete of the Year. Hendrix thrower Bronwyn Adams was voted the Rookie of the Year. Centre’s coaches, led by Lisa Owens, was honored at the SAA Championship as the staff of the year.
 
Doumbia had a historic conference championship meet, scoring a meet-high 41 points and breaking conference records in three events. She won the 100m dash in a record time of 11.58 seconds, smashing a decade-old record by nearly half a second. She is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation in the event. The senior beat the old SAA 200m dash record by a tenth-of a second and is 13th nationally with a mark of 24.16 seconds. Her third individual gold came in the 400m dash with a time of 56.52 ranking, top-40 nationally. Doumbia was also the anchor of the SAA record-setting 4x100m relay team and winning 4x400m relay squad.
 
McNeilly won two events and took silver at a third to help Centre to its third-straight SAA title. The sophomore won the high jump in record setting fashion, clearing 1.72m to currently rank third in Division III. She also won the triple jump with a distance of 12.05m, ranking 14th in the nation. McNeilly added a runner-up finish in the long jump to her big weekend.
 
Adams made a big splash in the throws for the Warriors during her first collegiate season. The first year earned two medals and added a fourth place finish. She won the discus with a school record toss of 42.93m, just a meter off the conference record. Adams set another Hendrix record in the hammer with a throw of 45.20m and place fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.15m.
 
The 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for May 22-24 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
