SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 26, 2025) – Led by Athlete of the Meet Madjo Doumbia, Centre captured its third-straight SAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday. Sewanee served as the host of the event at Harris Track.
The Colonels tallied 242 points to beat runner-up Berry by seven points in a tightly contested team race from start to finish. Rhodes was third with 106.5 points.
Doumbia won and smashed championship records in the 100m dash and 200m dash while also finishing third in the long jump. Her time of 11.58 in the 100 broke a 10-year old record while her 200 time of 24.16 beat a seven-year old mark. The senior ran anchor leg for the SAA record-setting 4x100 meter relay team, joining Amari Robinson, Janea Bottinlli and Chloe Hein to stop the clock at 46.49 seconds.
Hein took gold in the long jump (5.87m) and was runner-up to Doumbia in the 100 and 200. Serena McNeily was a double winner, taking first in the high jump with a bar of 1.71m and taking the triple jump with a leap of 12.05m.
Erin Haugh won the 3k Steeplechase for Centre in 11:41.23 and Serena McNeily took the high jump with a bar of 1.71m.
Anna Rose won three events to lead Berry, winning the 5k (17:48.63), 1500m (4:41.37), and 800m run (2:16.88). Teammate Macy Murdock was a double winner, taking first in the 400m hurdles in 1:03.11 and the 100m hurdles in 15.20 seconds. Onoyeme Egure set a meet record in winning the shot put with a throw of 13.53m.
Ariel Ellis gave the Vikings a win in the 10k, running 37:50.45. Malysha Winston won the hammer with a throw of 48.13m for Berry. Madeline Hubbert led a Vikings sweep of the pole vault, clearing 3.34m.
Rhodes Evan Duet captured the javelin with a distance of 38.72m. Bronwyn Adams of Hendrix won the discus in 41.93m.
Centre, led by Lisa Owens, was voted the SAA Coaching Staff of the Year.
