Athletes of the Week:

Offense
Grayson White | Sewanee | SO | Columbia, SC – White collected four goals in two matches for the Tigers, a draw and a win, with a hat trick. He recorded all three goals in a 3-3 draw versus Maryville, scoring in the 47th and 54th minutes before the game-tying goal with just 23 seconds remaining on a PK. He added a goal in the 44th minute in a victory against Talladega for his sixth score of the year in six matches.

Defense:
Scott Johnson | Southwestern | SR | Seattle, WA – Johnson was busy all weekend, collecting a career-high 11 saves in the 0-0 draw against Concordia on Friday. The senior followed the performance up with a seven save day against Texas Lutheran on Sunday. Johnson notched his fourth clean sheet of the season on Sunday and third in a row.

Notable Performances:

Offense
  • Jack Raulston | Berry | SO | Knoxville, TN – A sophomore from Knoxville TN Raulston continued his great start to the season notching two more goal in two games. In the first game against LeTourneau Raulston sent the Vikings fans home happy with an 85th minute winner in a 1-0 win. Raulston then followed that up with a goal in a tough 3-1 loss to No. 3 Emory.
  • Ryan O’Hara | Centre | SO | Lexington, KY – Ryan O'Hara assisted on 2 of Centre's 4 goals over the weekend. The first assist came on Centre's lone goal in a 1-1 draw at Brevard on Saturday. He assisted on Centre's 2nd goal in a 3-0 win at Warren Wilson.
  • Owen VanMarter | Oglethorpe | SR | Hilton Head, SC – Oglethorpe's Owen VanMarter did what only a handful of Stormy Petrels have ever been able to do in the history of the program by assisting three goals in a 4-1 win over Belhaven during the midweek. This was one off the Oglethorpe record and tied for second all-time. The assists came on the first three goals of the match as Oglethorpe erased a 1-0 deficit to finish a road comeback. Oglethorpe finished the week with a 1-0 loss to No. 10 Babson, during which game VanMarter was a part of several more scoring threats although they all came up empty.
  • Adam Knutson | Trinity | SR | Dripping Springs, TX – Knutson led the sixth-ranked Tiger men's soccer team to a pair of wins this weekend, defeating Texas Lutheran University 1-0 on the road before taking down Concordia University (TX) 3-0 at home. Knutson had a hand in all three goals against Concordia, notching two goals and an assist to lead Trinity to its fifth straight win to start the season. Knutson now has four goals and two assists this season and his game-winner against the Tornados is his third this season. Knutson converted a penalty kick goal in the 30th minute on Sunday, which turned out to be the game-winner. He picked up his second goal of the day less than four minutes later to give the Tigers a 2-0 halftime lead. Knutson assisted on the final goal of the game less than 10 minutes into the second half to put the finishing touches on the victory.

Defense
  • Alex Ramirez | Trinity | SR | Houston, TX – Ramirez led the sixth-ranked Trinity men's soccer team to a pair of shutout wins over the weekend, defeating Texas Lutheran University 1-0 on the road on Friday, and then finishing off Concordia University (TX) with a 3-0 home win on Sunday night. Ramirez and the Tiger defense yielded just two off-target shots in the win over TLU and just eight more against Concordia in the weekend finale. After giving up a goal in the season-opening win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CA), Ramirez and the Trinity defense have posted four consecutive shutout victories.
