Athletes of the Week:
Offense:
Adam Knutson | Trinity | SR | Dripping Springs, TX – Knutson led the fifth-ranked Tiger men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over UC-Santa Cruz on Friday, which was the only game of the week for Trinity. Knutson blasted the game-winning goal in the 76th minute to complete the comeback after the Banana Slugs scored in the fifth minute to take a surprise lead against the Tigers. Trinity equalized in the final minute of the first half, then Knutson sprung free for the eventual game-winner to keep Trinity unbeaten at home so far this season. Knutson leads the team with six total goals in eight games, which includes five game-winning goals.

Defense:
Sharma Raghav | Southwestern | SR | Austin, TX – Sharma helped the Pirates defense stay undefeated as the best start in program history with a 2-0 win over East Texas Baptist and a 0-0 draw against University of California - Santa Cruz. Sharma not only helped the defense earn its fifth and sixth clean sheet of the season but also scored the first goal against ETBU. Sharma's goal was the deciding strike for his team leading fourth of the year. Sharma played 176 minutes in two matches as the Pirates have surrendered just four goals in ten matches this season in large part due to Sharma.

Notable Performances:

Offense
  • Nicholas Theriot | Millsaps | SO | Covington, LA – Millsaps men's soccer sophomore forward Nicholas Theriot netted a pair of goals and an assist in the Majors' 8-1 triumph over Tougaloo on Wednesday. He recorded all five of his shots on frame in 46 minutes of action off the bench. On Sunday, he logged eight minutes in a 2-1 defeat at LaGrange College.
  • Justus Mason | Southwestern | FR | Albuquerque, New Mexico – Mason scored the sealing goal in a 2-0 victory over East Texas Baptist on Thursday. The freshman has given the needed spark into the Pirates offense, scoring his first Pirate goal. The freshman made a perfect run into the space, taking a few dribbles and slotting it past the keeper. Mason was efficient all weekend holding up the ball distributing and taking his chances when needed. Mason and the Pirates improved to 8-0-2 heading into SAA play.

Defense
  • Daniel Urquidi | Trinity | SO | Round Rock, TX – Urquidi led #5 Trinity University to a 2-1 win at home against UC-Santa Cruz in its only game of the week. Urquidi played all 90 minutes on defense for the Tigers, who allowed and early goal to fall behind, but then held the Banana Slugs in check over the final 85 minutes of the game. Urquidi and that defense did not allow a shot in the second half, which proved decisive as Trinity rallied to take the lead. Urquidi also assisted on the game-winning goal in the 76th minute to complete the comeback.
