CANTON, Ga. – A full weekend of SAA baseball action shuffled the conference standings heading into the last week of March. Berry leads the way at 12-9 overall and 2-1 in the league. Millsaps (15-6) and Hendrix (10-11) are both 4-2. Berry visits Rhodes and Millsaps is at Sewnee to highlight upcoming SAA action.

Gray Berry | Millsaps | Senior | West Point, Miss. - was impressive at the plate, helping the Majors to a 4-1 week at Twenty Field in Jackson, Miss. Berry batted 11-for-21 with a 0.58 on-base percentage, seven RBIs, six runs, three doubles, three hit by pitches and two stolen bases. The Majors bested No. 14 Centre on Monday, Stevens on Tuesday and claimed two-of-three games hosting Hendrix over the weekend. In the series win over the Warriors, Berry hit 7-for-11 with four RBI, four runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases.
Pitcher:
JB Sain | Oglethorpe | First Year | Birmingham, Ala. - in only his sixth collegiate start, handed in his best against No. 14 Centre. On the way to a 1-0 Oglethorpe victory, Sain carried a perfect game into the fifth inning before ultimately throwing a two-hit shutout where he struck out three. Sain faced only three over the minimum in the seven-inning game, which helped Oglethorpe win the series Saturday evening against the nationally ranked Colonels.
Notable Performances:
- Zach Fortman (Sewanee) - delivered a stellar performance at the plate and in the field, playing a crucial role in Sewanee’s conference series. In Game 2, he was the driving force behind the Tigers’ offense, accounting for all six of the team’s runs—driving in five and scoring the other—while collecting three hits. On Sunday, he continued his hot streak with two hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored to help Sewanee secure its first conference win. Across the final two games of the series, Fortman went an impressive 5-for-7 (.714) and finished the weekend 5-for-11 (.455) with a walk and a stolen base. Defensively, he recorded five putouts and 10 assists. He finished the series with eight RBIs and three runs scored.
- Brandon Trichell (Rhodes) - recorded multiple hits, a run, an RBI and extra base hit in all 3 games this weekend. For the weekend he went 7 for 11, scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Trichell added 2 doubles and a home run on the weekend for 1.091 slugging percentage. Trichell hit .636 on the weekend. He also fielded a perfect 1.000 at 3B on the weekend, making some highlight real plays.
- Taj Donald (Sewanee) - delivered a dominant performance on the mound to lead the Tigers to a seven-inning 18-5 victory over Rhodes in the series finale. The right-hander tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just five hits while striking out two and issuing no walks. His efficiency was on full display, facing the minimum in the first two innings, facing 18 batters in five innings, and inducing 10 ground outs.
- Zach Sohosky (Rhodes) - pitched a gem against conference rival Sewanee in a much needed win for the Lynx. In a pitching duel, Sohosky came out on top as the Lynx won the game 3-2. Sohosky pitched 6 scoreless innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 6. The Lynx were leading 3-0 win Zac was pulled from the game but they held on to win 3-2 and Sohosky picked up his 4th win of the season.
- Nick Tarantino (Millsaps) - helped the Majors earn a victory over Hendrix with four days rest on Friday. He tossed 6.0 innings with three strike outs, while holding the Warriors to one walk, two runs, one hit by pitch and five hits.
