SAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Report – January 20, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – As the SAA swimming & diving regular season winds down, all six conference squads were in the pool over the weekend.
 
Rhodes went to Sewanee and posted a 220-66 win over the Tigers. Centre split a home double-dual, beating Transylvania and falling to Cumberlands. Hendrix beat University of the Ozarks 164-41 on the Warriors Senior Day. Berry fell to Emory and SCAD  and Millsaps fell to Centenary on the road.
 
The 2025 SAA Swimming & Diving Championship is set for February 12-15 at Centre’s Champion Hall in Danville, Kentucky.

Athletes of the Week:
SWIMMER: Ben Anderson | Millsaps | Junior | Estes Park, Colo. - had a strong performance at Centenary College on Friday. Anderson finished in first place in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.76) and 100-yard freestyle (50.05). He was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.37) and helped the 200-yard medley relay place runner-up (1:49.28).  
 
DIVER: Avery Balch | Centre | Senior | Hartselle, Ala. - was a winner for the Centre men versus Transylvania and Cumberlands. He swept the diving contests with two NCAA cuts, which he had already locked down earlier in the season. The three-meter dive (six dives) was won with a score of 309.95, while the one-meter (six dives) was won with a tally of 318.80. 
 
Notable Performances:
  • Evan Pelletier (Berry) - In the Emory-SCAD Meet this past weekend, the first year found a 6th place finish in the 200 Free (1:48.63), 9th in the 200 Breast (2:22.11), and helped his team to a second place finish in the 400 free relay (having the lowest time out of the four 23.49).
  • Jake Holmes (Centre) - placed fourth in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and was part of a second-place finishing 200 freestyle relay. The Colonels beat fellow DIII member Transylvania.
  • Tyler Foster (Sewanee) - put together a strong showing in the pool, securing third-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (55.30), the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.52), and as part of the Tigers’ 200-yard freestyle relay team, which clocked a time of 1:31.75.
