Athlete of the Week:
Phil Dotson | Rhodes | SR | Memphis, TN –Phil Dotson delivered an outstanding two-game stretch to lead Rhodes to a pair of victories over North Central (IL) and Texas Lutheran, showcasing elite scoring efficiency, leadership, and all-around impact. In a hard-fought 71–65 win over North Central, Dotson played a team-high 38 minutes and led the Lynx with 18 points, adding 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal while shooting 6-for-15 from the fieldand 5-for-6 at the free-throw line. Dotson followed that performance with a dominant showing against Texas Lutheran, pouring in a game-high 26 points in an 89–76 victory. He shot 7-for-14 from the floor, knocked down three three-pointers, and went 9-for-12 at the line, while also contributing 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Dotson set the tone early with multiple first-half triples and continued to control the game offensively, scoring at all three levels and facilitating for teammates as Rhodes built and maintained a commanding lead. Across the two games, Dotson averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest, serving as the Lynx’s primary offensive engine and a steady presence in key moments.
Notable Performances:
- Jaxon Toney | Millsaps | JR | Memphis, TN – Millsaps men's basketball center Jaxon Toney had a strong week, aiding the Majors to a split in two games in Texas. He averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and two assists, while adding a steal. Toney connected on 68 percent of his attempts from the field (15-of-22 FG).
- Kemp Jackson | Oglethorpe | SR | Roswell, GA – Oglethorpe guard Jackson Kemp put up his best game of the season in the only matchup of the week, a close loss at home where the senior scored 22 points and added seven rebounds. He went 8-for-15 from the field and 4-of-8 from three, coming up just four points shy of his career high for scoring.
- Luke Hatcher | Southwestern | SR | Houston, TX – Hatcher stacked up double-doubles in both victories this week in route to win over McMurry and Austin with a loss to Dallas. Hatcher had 13 points and 12 boards on Monday, along with the dagger three pointer to win in overtime. The senior totaled 13 points on 11 boards against Austin in another massive victory.
- Dean Balo | Trinity | JR | Dallas, TX –Balo led #24 Trinity to a weekend split in its Leslie Robinson Holiday Classic this weekend, averaging 17.0 points per game and shooting 50% (11-for-22) from the field in the two games. Balo led the team in scoring in both games, putting up 18 points in a 102-76 win over Saint John's and scoring 16 points in Sunday's 74-66 loss to UW-Stevens Point.
