Athlete of the Week:
Neela Castillo | Southwestern | FR | Kyle, TX – Freshman guard Neela Castillo delivered a historic weekend, highlighted by a program-record 39-point performance on Sunday against Sewanee to surpass the previous single-game mark set in 2014, while going 8-for-11 from three-point range, shooting 75 percent from the field, and adding four rebounds and eight steals. She also became the first NCAA Division III freshman this season to knock down eight or more three-pointers in a single game. Earlier in the weekend against Centre, Castillo also contributed 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Notable Performances:
- Lauren Ellard | Berry | SR | Oxford, AL –A senior from Oxford, AL Ellard helped guide the Vikings to a 71-49 win over Oglethorpe at home. Ellard finished 6-for-7 (85%) from the field including 2-for-2 from three with 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal. The 20 points in the game was a season high for Ellard.
- Lilly Reid | Centre | JR | Mt. Washington, KY – Lilly Reid put together an impressive two-game stretch, averaging strong production across the board. Over the two games, she totaled 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. She also made her presence felt defensively with 1 block and 2 steals, rounding out a well-balanced performance that highlighted her impact on both ends of the floor.
- Elyse Warren | Millsaps | SR | Memphis, TN – Millsaps women's basketball center Elyse Warren again made history for the Majors, helping defeat Rhodes, 83-62 on Friday. She became the first player in school history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. Warren led the Majors with a double-double of 22 rebounds and 14 points. The Memphis, Tenn., native also shot 6-of-11 from the floor and added an assist in the Majors' lone game of the week.
- Keimarya Rivera | Oglethorpe | SR | Canton, GA – Oglethorpe senior Keimarya Rivera put up 14 points and nine rebounds despite a road loss in the only game of the week last week for the Stormy Petrels. It marked her 11th straight game in double figures for scoring.
- Natalie Greenwood | Trinity | SR | Dallas, TX – Greenwood led Trinity's women's basketball team to a home weekend split in SAA play, defeating Sewanee before falling to Centre in overtime. She opened with 11 points and 11 rebounds in just 16 minutes of action in a lopsided win over Sewanee, hitting 5-of-8 from the floor and recording a pair of blocks as well. Greenwood then finished with 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists against Centre, going 6-of-10 from the field.
