SAA Baseball Report – April 7, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – Due to inclement weather across the SAA footprint, the conference baseball weekend will roll into Monday. Millsaps leads the league after the first week of April, winners of three-straight to sit at 22-8 overall and 9-3 in the SAA. Hendrix (12-15, 5-3 SAA) is second and will close its series with Rhodes (18-11, 6-5 SAA) Monday afternoon. Centre has won its last two and is third in the league at 21-7, 7-5 SAA.

Athlete:
Bradley Pelle | Millsaps | Senior | Kenner, La. - had a strong four-game stretch, helping the Majors to a 3-1 week and weekend sweep of Oglethorpe. The senior went 8-for-13 (.615 BA) at the plate against the Petrels, including two doubles and a home run. Pelle had seven RBI and scored seven runs, posting a .550 on base percentage and .778 slugging percentage.
 
Pitcher:
Zac Sohosky | Rhodes | Junior | Bentonville, Ark. - continued his dominance on the mound in SAA play, extending his scoreless streak to 20.2 innings. In a win over Hendrix, the top hitting team in the SAA, Sohosky scattered three hits with one walk and seven strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. He moved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 against conference competition with a 0.00 ERA.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Blake Pou (Sewanee) - powered Sewanee’s offense in a 10-1 win over Covenant, going 3-for-4 with two solo home runs and three RBIs. He launched homers in the second and fourth innings—his sixth and seventh of the season—tying the Sewanee single-season record. Pou also added an RBI single in the sixth, capping a standout day at the plate.
  • Mason Snyder (Berry) – earned the game one win over Centre, throwing eight shutout innings and allowing only five hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.
  • Andrew Zimmerman (Centre) - had the best start of his young career on Sunday as he earned the victory for Centre in the rubber match to secure a series win for the Colonels against Berry. Zimmerman threw a season high 6.1 innings and allowed just two runs and five hits while striking out five in the win to improve to 3-2 on the season.
  • Aiden Leggett (Hendrix) - shut down the Lynx in game two of the Warriors doubleheader with Rhodes to even the series and earn his fourth winning decision of the season. The junior faced just two batters above the minimum in 5.1 scoreless innings, punching out nine batters while surrendering just four base runners on three hits and a walk.
  • Nick Tarantino (Millsaps) -  improved his record to 7-1 and helped the Majors to a 3-1 week and weekend sweep of Oglethorpe. He pitched a complete nine innings with five strikeouts and no walks in an 10-4 win. The Stormy Petrels tallied 11 hits on a windy Friday afternoon.
