Athlete of the Week:
Garin Freeman | Millsaps | JR | Little Rock, AR – Millsaps women's basketball junior guard Garin Freeman was electric, helping the Majors best Southwestern (75-68) and Trinity (73-72) in Texas. Freeman averaged 21.5 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists, three steals and added a block. She combined to shoot 58 percent (19-for-33 FG) and played all 80 minutes across both matchups.
Notable Performances:
- Elly Callihan | Berry | SR | Ellijay, GA – Elly's two performances this weekend saw her average 12 points and 7 rebounds. The eventful weekend included her eclipsing 1,000 points, tabbing a double-double (16 pts, 10 rebounds) in a huge win against Centre, and three game-winning free throws in a nail biter against Sewanee on Sunday. Callihan also had a total of 5 steals on the weekend.
- Ryleigh Campbell | Centre | FR | Bowling Green, KY –Ryleigh Campbell had a standout performance this weekend, totaling at 28 points to lead the way. also contributing on the boards with 2 rebounds and helped facilitate the offence with 1 assist, while adding 1 steal on the defensive front.
- Keimarya Rivera | Oglethorpe | SR | Canton, GA – Oglethorpe put up two more big efforts in a road weekend at Sewanee and Centre, including a double-double to cap the week. She started the week with 20 points and nine rebounds helping the Stormy Petrels finish Friday's game on a 19-3 run to win by three. Two days later, Rivera turned in her eighth double-double of the year with 16 and 13 despite the Petrels coming up short.
- Janie Boyd | Sewanee | FR | Jacksonville, FL – Janie Boyd averaged 19 points and four rebounds this weekend while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 43 percent from the three. Against Oglethorpe, she posted 20 points with five rebounds, three assists, a block, and an assist. On Sunday against Berry she posted 18 points and four rebounds as she was 4-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from behind the arc.
- Ivory Scott | Trinity | JR | Waco, TX – Scott led the Tiger women's basketball team to a home weekend split in SAA play, defeating Rhodes before falling to Millsaps by just one point on Sunday. Scott scored a career-high 23 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals in the win over Rhodes, setting new career-highs with nine free throws made and four three-pointers made in the game. She followed that with eight points, five rebounds, and a career-high six assists in the loss to Millsaps.
