SAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Report – January 20, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – All six Southern Athletic Association women’s swimming & diving teams were in action over the weekend as the regular season winds down. Centre split a double-dual with a pair of in-state opponents. The Colonels took care of Transylvania 205-34 and fell to Cumberlands 135-104.5. Hendrix hosted University of the Ozarks and came up short 131-81. Berry traveled to Atlanta and dropped decisions to both Emory and SCAD. Rhodes visited Sewanee with the Lynx winning 186-99 while Millsaps closed its regular season by beating Centenary 102-78.
 
The 2025 SAA Swimming & Diving Championship is set for February 12-15 at Centre’s Champion Hall in Danville, Kentucky.

Athletes of the Week:
SWIMMER: Callie West | Centre | Senior | Lexington, Ky. – posted a relay win and two individual wins versus Transylvania and Cumberlands. The Lexington, Ky. native touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.01 and followed that up with a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly (57.10). She was a member of the squad that won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.18. 
 
DIVER: Katie Walker | Sewanee | Senior | York, S.C. - delivered a stellar performance on the boards this week, claiming first place in the 3-meter dive and second place in the 1-meter dive during Sewanee’s meet against Rhodes.
 
Notable Performance:
  • Erin Dannemiller (Centre) - tallied a score of 270.50 in a winning one-meter dive (six dives) performance versus Transylvania and Cumberlands. That score was over 15 points above the NCAA Regional qualifying mark. 
  • Ashely Young (Berry) - had a high individual finish of 7th in the 100 Yard Fly with a time of 1:02.42 and helped her team to a second place finish in the 400 free relay with the lowest time out of the group at 26.77 at the Emory-SCAD Meet.
  • Kat Burns (Millsaps) - finished first in both the 50-yard freestyle (26.26) and 100-yard freestyle (58.34). Burns also took second place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.30). She also helped her 200-yard freestyle relay team claim victory (1:53.02).
  • Audrey Francell (Sewanee) - had an impressive meet, earning a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.13. She also added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (57.04) and a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (26.05).
