SAA Softball Report – March 31, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – Preseason favorite Berry is alone atop the SAA standings, sitting at 6-0 in the conference and 19-5 overall. The Vikings have won their last six after sweeps of Hendrix and Centre. Millsaps took a series off Rhodes and is 4-2 in the conference, 15-9 overall. Rhodes and Sewanee are both 1-2 in the SAA through their first series.

Athlete:
Kinsey Smith | Millsaps | Junior | Lincoln, Ala. – was strong at the plate and helped power the Majors to a sweep of MUW and series win over Rhodes. Smith posted a 0.67 on-base percentage, batting 8-for-13 with a home run, six RBIs, scoring four runs, with three doubles and walked twice.
 
Pitcher:
Hannah Gore | Berry | Senior | Roswell, Ga. - picked up two SAA conference wins in the circle this weekend over Centre as the Vikings swept the Colonels. In her first game she threw all five innings as Berry run ruled Centre to win 8-0. In the game she only allowed two hits with six strikeouts. In her second game she pitched three innings with no hits and seven strikeouts. She gave up no runs over the weekend.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Allana Vasquez (Millsaps) - had a stellar showing helping the Majors to a 4-1 week and 2-1 record in the circle. Her week was highlighted by a 10-strikeout complete game, holding MUW to two runs. She also held Rhodes to one hit and no runs with four strikeouts in five innings. Vasquez totaled a 2.21 ERA with 18 strikeouts, six walks, no hit by pitches against 14 hits and one wild pitch. Her 10-strikeout game was the most by a Major since Feb. 2019.
  • Paige Bennett (Berry) – hit 3-for-7 and knocked in five runs as the Vikings swept through Centre over the weekend. The senior had one homer in each of the three games.
  • Morgan Tabor (Centre) -  junior had eight hits over seven games for the Colonels. Two of those contests were two hit games, versus Maryville and Piedmont, and featured one extra-base hit each. Both of those contests were also 2-for-3 days for the catcher. She is currently second among SAA players in on-base percentage (.532), third in batting average (.440), and third in doubles (10).
