SAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Report – March 24, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – The first official weekend of spring saw SAA outdoor track & field action had all seven conference schools in action across four different meets. Hendrix participated in the Central Arkansas Richard Martin, Jr. Invitational while Sewanee travled into Tennessee for the Lee University Invitational. Millsaps and Rhodes were in Jackson for the Belhaven Invite and Berry, Centre, and Oglethorpe competed in the Emory Spring Break Classic.

Track Athlete of the Week:
Lucy Nicholson | Berry | First Year | Cumming, Ga. -  broke the Berry Outdoor School Record in the 200m Friday evening at the Emory Spring Break Classic running 25.65.  The record was last set in 1984.  It was a new lifetime PR for the Freshman.  She also ran a new PR of 12.43 in the 100m on Saturday just missing the Berry record by .03 seconds.
 
Field Athlete of the Week:
Cortney Brown | Berry | Graduate Student | Sandersville, Ga. -  placed 2nd out of 55 throwers in the Javelin at the Emory Spring Break Classic with an SAA leading throw of 37.30m.  She was the top collegiate thrower at the meet.  The throw was just below her lifetime PR and it ranks her #4 All-Time at Berry.
 
Notable Performance:
  • Eleanor Scott (Millsaps) - recorded three excellent performances at the Belhaven Invitational on Saturday. She placed second in the triple jump (10.47m), fourth in the high jump (1.55m) and 12th in the javelin (18.47m). 
  • Emory Rhodes (Sewanee) - showcased her strength in the 100-meter hurdles at the Lee Invitational, posting a time of 16.89—good for seventh all-time in Sewanee history.
  • Fran Edwards (Millsaps) - recorded a pair of quality finishes at the Belhaven Invitational on Saturday. She won the 5000 meters with a time of 18 minutes, 59.23 seconds and was eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 5 minutes, 22.02 seconds. Both times were personal bests and her 5K now ranks third in program history.
  • Journey Morrison (Sewanee) - put together an exceptional performance at the Lee Invitational, securing all-time marks in Sewanee history in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.59) and the 200-meter dash (27.35). In the 100-meter hurdles, her time is second overall and in the 200-meter, her time places her at eighth overall.
