SAA Softball Report – April 21, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, Berry is atop the SAA standings at 8-1 in league play and 23-9 overall. The Vikings will host Sewanee before traveling to Millsaps for a big regular season finale series. The Majors are just a game back in second place, sitting at 7-2 in the conference. Rhodes has the longest current winnings streak at four and is currently third with an 8-4 conference mark.
 
The 2025 SAA Softball Championship is set for May 8-11 in Columbus, Georgia.

Athlete:
Harper Allee-Press | Junior | Ellicott City, Md. – put on a show over five games for Rhodes, leading the Lynx to an unbeaten week. She hit .733 (11-for-15) with an OPS of .824. The junior knocked in five runs and scored seven her own while not striking out once. In the series with Hendrix, Allee-Press went 6-for-8 with five runs scored and three RBI.
 
Pitcher:
Gina Dudley | Rhodes | Junior | Palatine, Ill.  – enjoyed a third-straight standout week in the circle for the Lynx, earning three wins while throwing three complete games. The junior totaled 19 innings and gave up 13 hits while racking up 30 strikeouts. She picked up two wins over Hendrix, scattering six hits and three runs with 11 strikeouts in her first outing, then coming back with nine strikeouts while surrendering four hits and a run in the finale. Dudley also struck out 10 in a midweek win over Lane College.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Layne Ogle (Centre) - notched her best weekend of the season with last week’s Sewanee series. She went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run in the first game she played. Those three hits were a season high. In the second game she went 2-for-3 and added an RBI.
  • Hannah Wilson (Sewanee) - was electric at the plate for Sewanee in their three-game sweep of Centre, finishing the weekend 4-for-9 with six RBIs, four runs scored, and a home run. In the series opener, she went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI to help spark the offense. The next day, Wilson delivered a monster performance, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and five RBIs in Sewanee’s 11-3 win. She capped off the weekend with a .444 batting average. 
  • Reagen Huskey (Sewanee) - was dominant in the circle across two appearances against Centre, picking up a pair of wins to help Sewanee take the weekend series. In the opening game, Huskey tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering just four hits and striking out six batters with no runs allowed in a 5-0 victory. She returned the next day and delivered another strong outing, going the distance again while allowing just one earned run and striking out six in Sewanee’s 11-3 run-rule win. Across 15.0 innings pitched, Huskey posted a 1.20 ERA with 13 strikeouts and three walks.
