SAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Report – April 7, 2025

CANTON, Ga.  – With three weeks until the 2025 SAA Championship, five conference teams were in action to start April. Centre won its home invitational while Berry competed at the West Georgia Legends Invitational. Oglethorpe visited Daytona Beach for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic. Hendrix and Rhodes were at the Harding Bryan Phillips Invitational with the Lynx also sending a select group to San Francisco for the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

Track Athlete of the Week:
Madjo Doumbia | Centre | Senior | Philadelphia, Pa. – running through the rain at the Centre Invitational, Doumbia enjoyed a standout performance with three school records. The senior anchored the winning 4x100 relay team to a school record time of 47.88 seconds. She won the 400m dash in 57.08; a school record and 21st best time in the nation. She went off in the 200m dash, winning in 24.42 to rank in the country and set another Centre best. She was second in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters and finished the day with a 56 second split to anchor the winning 4x400m relay team. Their time of 3:56.97 ranks No. 19 in the nation.
 
Field Athlete of the Week:
Kris Williams | Berry | Sophomore | Jesup, Ga. – picked up a big win in the high jump at the University of West Georgia. The sophomore cleared 1.63m to lead the SAA, rank No. 3 in the South Region and No. 13 in the nation.
 
Notable Performance:
  • Amirah Ali (Oglethorpe) -  had an impressive weekend with a personal best in the triple jump of 11.31m for a fourth place finish overall.  Just a freshman, this jump places her at the top of the conference performance list.  
  • Macy Murdock (Berry) -  took first in the 400 Hurdles at the University of West Georgia meet. She had a season best time of 1:03.07 and is currently leading the SAA and is ranked #3 in the south region and #12 in the nation.
  • Ella Williams (Hendrix) - won the 5,000 meters at the at the Bryan Phillips Invitational. Her time of 18:31 was a personal best and keeps her in the top eight in the SAA.
  • Evan Thomas (Oglethorpe) - had an impressive weekend on the track beginning with a PR of 25.44 in the 200m and an opening 400m of 59.19 (second in the conference standings).  She also helped the 4x100m women's team to an impressive 48.80 and anchored the women's 4x400m to a school record time of 4:05.09.
